Hues of "Blues"!

How often have you come across a space that screams colour malfunction??? My bet is definitely more than once.. Thus very often the easiest escape route that most poeple adhere to is to stick to beiges and creames and end up having mundane cream walls...beige couches..a smattering of co-ordinated accessories or on the other hand decide to go colour crazy and the end result would be a disaster and make you wish colours were never invented!
Decorating doesnt neccessarily mean just painting your walls a different colour. The whole experience of playing around with furniture..fabric..paints..accessories is what makes decorating such a treat!! Make it a happy and fun occasion!

Today i want to explore the colour "Blue" in interiors and the myriad ways of playing with it. It may not be a very common colour in our homes...but this is where the magic of Blue comes in. I'm still pondering which excites me more.... the smoky greyish blue or the dark navy blue with a tint of gloss or the darker shade of turquoise... !!

Here are some inspirational photos which highlight the play of Blue in our homes...

Blue walls need not be over-bearing at all! The rustic feel of this bedroom is enhanced by teaming blue with natural textures.

Another perfect way of playing around with "Blue" is making it the highlight of the room. I absolutely love this fun kitchen with the bright blue kitchen cabinets. And having the shutters a wee bit longer than the usual length is another fun way to bring a new look to your kitchen. Dont you just love the huge yellow pear??!!

Accessorising your space is another fun thing to try..you can start with collecting vases or other odds and ends of different shapes and sizes keeping the colour tone in the same family making a cluster. Try to add a hint of the same colour to your furniture in the same space. this will bring the whole room together..!

Playing with picture frames is another cool thing to try. Here the colour Blue is cleverly implemented in both the above pictures..The first picture has an assortment of prints in the same colour framing them in a simple white frame. This helps in highlighting a special colour of your choice!

While in the second picture, we have classic black and white prints arranged in our desired Blue background. This is another way of decorating with a solid colour and complementing it with stunning black and white photographs.

Modern artwork with a hint of dark Greyish Blue looks stunning against the pastel Blue wall while the gorgeous pink blossoms next to the glazing white ceramic vase gives this space a dream-like aura! Blue can work wonders when teamed with pastel colours to give a most elegant and beautiful look to any setting!

There are different ways of teaming the colour Blue with other colours. However, one of my favourites and the one that is very much in trend is teaming TEAL with CHOCOLATE. This can work even with the lighter shades of TEAL and TAUPE. The first picture has a beautiful composition of blue and grey! While the second one has teal and taupe which looks really delicious with the gorgeous taupe damask print wallpaper! I love the way the colour white brings out all these gorgeous colours..

Well this is all for today.  Hope you have enjoyed reading about the wonders of  "Blue" and how to have fun with it!!
Will be back with more interesting stuff soon....:)

Happy Decorating!!
